Hammock Chair L "Rama
Authentic Nicaraguan chair hammock 100% cotton
The "Rama" are an indigenous people who represent the smallest group in Nicaragua (around 1600 people). Since Spanish colonization, they have declined sharply due to disease, conflict and loss of territory. In recent years, however, the population has regained strength and is tending to increase. They are descended from the interbreeding of several indigenous communities that occupied Nicaragua's Caribbean coast at the time of Spanish colonization.
When decorating a home, colors play an essential role. The choice of gray and ecru for this chair hammock is significant. Grey evokes serenity and neutrality, while ecru recalls simplicity and nature. This combination creates a soothing, elegant ambience, perfect for relaxing. The slow life philosophy reminds us that sometimes it's essential not to rush our future. Sitting in a chair hammock, time seems to stretch on forever. It's a great way to indulge in contemplation or reflection. Appreciate the charm of the present moment rather than the relentless pursuit of the next.
As well as color, the choice of materials is crucial. Nicaraguan chair hammocks feature wood for the structure and cotton for the seat. The wood adds a natural, warm touch, while the cotton provides a pleasant feel and a sensation of coolness in hot weather, while remaining comfortable in all seasons. This combination of wood and cotton creates a subtle balance between traditional craftsmanship and modernity for inspiring decor.
We offer two solutions:
When you enter a community of Nicaraguan weavers, the expertise and passion at work are immediately apparent. Creating chair hammocks is an art that demands patience and precision, but for these craftsmen, each piece represents much more than a simple object. Hammock weaving is an ancient tradition, handed down from generation to generation. Although hammock making in its current form is relatively recent (around 20-30 years), weaving is rooted in the history of their community. This tradition is cherished, preserved and passed on to future generations.
Nicaraguans have a simple philosophy of life that respects nature. Their materials of choice are natural and sustainable, reducing their environmental impact. This commitment is an integral part of their craftsmanship. On this page, we invite you to discover how our hammocks are made: The making of our Nicaraguan hammocks
Giving or buying a Nicaraguan hammock-chair, with its colors, materials and tradition, is like bringing a piece of Caribbean folklore into your home. More than an object of relaxation and decoration, it's a symbol of the rich culture and craftsmanship of the country and its local communities.
With this object, you'll be able to transform the vision of your living room into a place of relaxation (if an anchoring point such as a beam allows you to do so). If your space is large, you'll have no trouble positioning it, as it will immediately dress up the room. If this isn't the case, you can install it in a corner, to avoid cluttering up the passageway (remember to have enough room around you).
Another interesting solution is to position this object close to a bookcase to create a reading corner. The idea here is to create a natural invitation to read and relax with the soothing movements of your hanging chair. Find out more : How to install a chair hammock or hanging armchair
The key to interior design is harmony. You need to make sure your chair hammock fits in perfectly with the rest of your space. The choice of color and style of your chair hammock is essential for a beautiful decor. Find out more about which color to choose : What colors to choose for your hammock?
